A few things I worked on this weekend: sketches for a new print and a leather fringe necklace. Eventually, I think versions of these will both be added to the shop, as soon as I work out a few details and finish up the drawings.

The top one is made up of my ink drawings. I pulled inspiration from old illustration books like Cabinet of Natural Curiosities. And, the bottom one is layered blots of watercolors (it’s much larger than shown). I was sort of thinking about printing the top one on fabric and selling 1/2 yard sections, so let me know if that would interest you! These were really rad to make, hopefully I’ll be able to make a few more patterns in the new year. Also, please check out my shop!

This morning I wrapped up a few pairs of the Traces earrings to give as gifts. These are a limited-edition of 50. Completely handmade – it was a long process of drawing, making prototypes, hand silkscreening, cutting leather, punching holes and adding the earwires. My dining room table was buried with art supplies for soooo long, it’s nice to have it back.

Finally! It’s here. I’m excited to share my online shop with you! It feels really good to be making again, despite all the late nights. I hung out with Katy and Keegan for a bit the other day, as they helped me print part of my project. Getting closer. Deadline is December 1st. I’ll be adding an email subscription here pretty soon too, if you’re interested.

I’m cleaning up the studio and just put a few goods in my etsy shop.
Both presses have left the studio and are off to good homes. It was hard letting go of them, but I know they’ll be well taken care of. Today, I’ve been working on a few drawings for a new project I have in mind that will debut hopefully soon on this site!

Inspired by an excerpt from 100 Years of Solitude: it rained for 4 years, eleven months, and 2 days. I printed this on fabric which some liked and others didn’t. I think mainly because some people feel letterpress is all about paper and a deep impression. But you can print on a wide array of materials and I think it’s fun to experiment.

I’ve been listening to it over and over!

This is one of the projects that I finished up for palindrome. It was lots of fun and challenging! My new palindrome site will be coming up soon, it’s been a little troublesome, but soon, very soon. And I still need to print my new card design, but I haven’t had the time yet. grrrr!

I’m trying to keep everything simple: line work, patterns, text, and a few collage materials. I found a few pieces of vintage wallpaper at bernadette breu’s that I would like to bring in to it all. Sometimes, I get so caught up in the concepting part of it all and thinking things over too much and looking everywhere for inspiration, that I’ve just been trying to practice the act of making. Making marks, making some text up, making sketches, just to get the wheels turning and eventually, I figure I’ll find my way.

In the midst of art-making, I’m moving my studio soon! I’m so excited! I’m moving to the Ford building, just a 5-minute walk from my house. The Ford has a great community of artists: trish grantham, plazm, betsy watson, evan b harris and press 26 among others. No more yucky basement studio that smells musty and moldy! It’s quite the jump for me, but sometimes I feel you just have to make the plunge and if you truly love what you’re doing it will all work out. I hope!

I just finished my new logo for palindrome and reprinted my biz cards, stationery notes and letterhead. I’m really loving this light blue-gray ink I’ve been using lately. I’m in the process of making new work to keep myself busy with design projects and venture out a bit further with palindrome to see where it leads me. Soon, I’ll have more time for my art and palindrome projects as I’ll be working just half-time at Oblation. Yeah!! It gets crazy sometimes trying to balance everything! How does everyone out there do it?? And, I just updated my Etsy shop with my new letterpressed card set, Linked.

I am too excited about this card to not show everyone. This is a new card I designed and I’ll be putting it on Etsy as soon as the envelopes come in! It’s printed in a light blue-gray with black outlines, the links wrap around the back too. It was a lot of work with bezier points in illustrator, but very fulfilling!

I just got done printing this invitation set for my dearest friends. I had a lot of fun designing it, both Kathleen and I have a love for green. I’ll be posting pics soon of more printed goodies: a new card and a whole new look for palindrome.
