My Sunday afternoon…watching The Umbrellas of Cherbourg – so incredibly rich in color!

I needed an afternoon to myself. So, I stopped what I was doing Friday, grabbed a coffee at my favorite café, then I wandered into Monograph Bookwerks – a beautifully curated shop in the northeast ‘hood of Portland. And, I picked up this book…

During the 1970s, Dieter Roth published a series of ads in a Swiss newspaper. The content of this series – disturbing, poetic and aggressive. This is the first complete publication of Roth’s ads, previously only published as artist’s books.

A few things I worked on this weekend: sketches for a new print and a leather fringe necklace. Eventually, I think versions of these will both be added to the shop, as soon as I work out a few details and finish up the drawings.

Willy Vlautin, writer and musician, is reading at Powell’s tonight from Lean on Pete. It’s absolutely perfect for this rainy Portland day.

And, Jon Raymond is at Nationale tomorrow who wrote Livability and The Half Life. I loved both of ‘em.

I went for a hike in Oleonta Gorge. Awesome beautiful.

Can’t wait to check out Anna Shelton’s photos at the Stumptown on Southwest 3rd Ave. Opening night is this Thursday from 6-8pm. I bought a couple of her prints during christmas for a gift and really, really loved ‘em.

Patti Smith came thru Portland this week and I was lucky enough to attend her book reading for Just Kids at the Baghdad Theater. It was the most awesome and truly, inspiring night ever. The kind of night that gives you tingles. She is so genuine and oh my god, I’d love to live a life like hers.

I always wrap the string around the handle exactly twice, and leave the tea bag in the entire time.

The top one is made up of my ink drawings. I pulled inspiration from old illustration books like Cabinet of Natural Curiosities. And, the bottom one is layered blots of watercolors (it’s much larger than shown). I was sort of thinking about printing the top one on fabric and selling 1/2 yard sections, so let me know if that would interest you! These were really rad to make, hopefully I’ll be able to make a few more patterns in the new year. Also, please check out my shop!

I spend too much time on flickr, here’s some of my faves…

This morning I wrapped up a few pairs of the Traces earrings to give as gifts. These are a limited-edition of 50. Completely handmade – it was a long process of drawing, making prototypes, hand silkscreening, cutting leather, punching holes and adding the earwires. My dining room table was buried with art supplies for soooo long, it’s nice to have it back.

Finally! It’s here. I’m excited to share my online shop with you! It feels really good to be making again, despite all the late nights. I’ll share more with you – the process behind the collection, the ups and downs, all that kind of  stuff. Our hearts are so vulnerable, and we’re so forgiving towards fuck-ups just to be loved back, however short-lived it may be. But sad moments in life, make us grow and experience more. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself. Maybe it’s the wine talking, but it’s real and it’s what’s happening.

I hung out with Katy and Keegan for a bit the other day, as they helped me print part of my project. Getting closer. Deadline is December 1st. I’ll be adding an email subscription here pretty soon too, if you’re interested.

I’m soooooo busy. Trying to breath and stay afloat in life right now, but sometimes I feel just like this.

I’ve been listening to her non-stop. so, so good.

It feels good to be printing again.

It truly was an amazing experience and a really great crowd that came to support this event! I loved everything in Hazel Cox’s space – especially that braided rope rug. Chelsea and I checked out the Sword + Fern space twice to listen to The Lovers and ogle at all the gorgeous jewelry – so, so awesome!

Bill Callahan has been on repeat.

Content, experience independent fashion

Okay, this is a month away, but I really can’t wait. 35 local, independent fashion designers will display their work on the 2nd floor of the Ace Hotel. 28 rooms to wander, live music, art and video installations.

It’s Music Fest Northwest next weekend, and I’m looking forward to Tu Fawning, Mount Eerie and Beach House.

A few pics from a trip to the desert for some much needed rest.

I’m swamped – my day job, my own projects and trying to soak up the last bits of Summer before it passes. I’ve been listening to Inside Voices non-stop, a local band that I recently checked out.

This looks good, I really like Jason Schwartzman.

Pdx Pop Now Festival is happening – this weekend.

I’m looking forward to Benoît Pioulard, Menomena, Deelay Ceelay, Laura Gibson…and lots of others too, there’s a really great line-up this year!

I went to Fringe and picked up these curtains for my bedroom. I like ‘em, especially when the light pools thru them.

I’m in the midst of watching the Twin Peaks series – my first time, and am really into it. I’m totally going to nerd out and take a camping trip to Snoqualmie, Washington where it was partly filmed.

Going camping near the Painted Hills…and wishing I had a beautiful tent like this from Beckel Canvas. I use to live a block away from their studio and have always eyed their work.

I’m going to go check out this show at the Together Gallery before it closes. I love Nigel Peake’s work and fell instantly for Julie Morstad’s work. Lovely.

Summers in Oregon are the best.
Over the weekend I went hiking thru Opal Creek Forest – this trail is so gorgeous and has some of the best swimming spots ever.
