A few things I worked on this weekend: sketches for a new print and a leather fringe necklace. Eventually, I think versions of these will both be added to the shop, as soon as I work out a few details and finish up the drawings.

I hung out with Katy and Keegan for a bit the other day, as they helped me print part of my project. Getting closer. Deadline is December 1st. I’ll be adding an email subscription here pretty soon too, if you’re interested.

It feels good to be printing again.

Doing a bit of research for my project and came across these beautiful textile swatches – a sampling of shibori and resist-dyeing techniques.

This is how I’ve been rolling, and how it usually looks in my dining room.

I played around with ink blots the other day, hopefully will be melded into my new project – coming soonish. I promise.

As I was doing research for a project yesterday, I stumbled across Bruce Rogers’ work and I remembered this mark that I’ve loved for so long, found in one of my letterpress books.
Rogers was a part of the private press movement as well as one of the original members of The Typophiles. He designed numerous book covers like this one that I just love.

It’s polaroid week. I found this beauty on ebay for far too cheap.

As I was doing a bit of research for a project, I came across these words and felt that it fit very much with what I’ve been doing of late. I love her writing.

Nothing was familiar and everything was strange. The air was damp and hot, my bangs were constantly wet with sweat, flat against my brow. Dirt would stick and settle inside my arm creases, and I would roll it off with my fingertips, it was gross and kind of fascinating as a kid, like picking a scab, you know. What I remember is just fragments really. There was flickers of color from the girls’ clothes and jewelry. The salesman who came to our house weekly to peddle us jewelry, tapestries, seashells. The walks to the beach where I would hunt for sand dollars mostly. And, of course swimming in the ocean, where I was stung by a jelly fish one time, on my hand. The jungle scared me; it was the snakes and monkeys, but I loved the butterflies that were bigger than my hand. My mom’s friend would catch them all the time and pin them on cushions and frame them. I felt bad for them. This is how I remember it all, a fever of sorts.

We’re hoping to go back someday and visit.

Winter is here, and I’m settling into my new place, and well, lots of things that are new. I’m looking forward to the quiet rainy days that lie ahead to catch up on projects and ideas.

Currently working on a special collaboration with one of my favorite stores Hermitage. I can’t wait to share with you.

Time is flyin’! I’ve finally moved into my new studio, which went really well for moving 2 tons of printing presses! Above, is a collaged sketch of my process for 1 of the pieces that I put in legare’s café. I’m taking pics tonite of the artwork to share with everyone.

Next up, is a letterpress show at office, Let Her Press. I’m still working on the print, trying to keep it simple with drawings and hand lettering since it’s an edition. I’ve been working hard on organizing my new digs, as well as the palindrome site and products. I can’t wait to debut everything!
